Pakistan Winter Sports Festival attracts thousands. Tourists and athletes head to snowy northern Pakistan
Winter Sports Festival in Malam Jabba Ski Resort, Pakistan. Held at the Malam Jabba ski resort at an altitude of nearly 9,000 feet, the Winter Sports Festival promotes adventure and winter tourism in Pakistan. The snow-capped valleys of northern Pakistan gather thousands of skiers, snowboarders, and other winter sports enthusiasts to celebrate winter games and enjoy the snow. Sports events attract domestic and foreign athletes. In addition to the games, winter markets, shopping, food stalls, live music, and bonfires are among the attractions.
Two major winter sports events are held at the picturesque Naltar Winter Resort in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and the Malam Jabba Ski Resort in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The winter sports festival takes place at the PAF ski resort in Naltar at 10,000 feet (3,000 m), surrounded by snow-capped mountains, and includes skiing, ice hockey, and figure skating competitions. The Pakistan Winter Sports Federation and the Pakistan Air Force jointly organize the five-day event. Gilgit-Baltistan Scouting won the prestigious 28th National Figure Skating Championship trophy, while the Gilgit-Baltistan Skating Association won its third ice hockey championship. Pakistani Winter Olympian Muhammad Karim won gold twice in the slalom and giant slalom categories, while JP Scouts Waqar Jr. won gold and silver.

KP’s Galiyat Snow Festival offers local tourists another chance to enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and other activities such as tug-of-war and ice racing. The three-day festival takes place in Nathiagali, Ayubia, Donga Gali, Khanaspur, and Mushkpuri, introducing tourists to various scenic spots. It was said the KPK government was “continuously working to modernize the tourism industry to explore the industry’s huge potential and develop new tourist attractions” to help local communities benefit from ecotourism, making the region an ideal tourist destination.
The Kaghlasht Snow Festival has already started in Ober-Ghitral, with the participation of climbers and adventure sports enthusiasts from all over the province. The festival was opened by Wazirzadeh, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Ethnic Minority Affairs, and Malakand, Commissioner of the Islamic Ministry of Syed Zaheer. Paragliders, skiers, snowboarders, and cultural performances were greeted with applause from the audience. The festival is held under the auspices of the district government.
Wazir zadeh said Upper Chitral has many winter sports attractions, and the snow festival is designed to provide better entertainment for adventure sports fans.
Ice Hockey In Winter Sports Gilgit Baltistan Steals The Show
The three-day winter ice festival kicked off on Friday in the heart of the snow-capped peaks of the Karam Mountains, with crowds and tourists participating in multiple competitions. Organized by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Sports Authority Kalam District Government and the Regional Sports Authority, the event includes music performances and a booth showcasing Malakand’s culture and handicrafts.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Riaz Khan, Deputy Commissioner Kalam Hedayatullah, District Sports Officer Malakand Kashif Farhan, District Youth Officer Farhat Ali Khan, and many others attended the event. kabaddi, tchoukball, snow tug of war, traditional angor goshi, traditional rugby, skiing, throw ball, karate, jujitsu were the highlight of the festival. In addition to the installation of traditional stalls, there are sports, children’s playgrounds, ice villages, Hatak dance performances, Rabah performances, Kakashi performances, and cultural performances.
