Hunza Road tours start at Rs. 125,000 per person for 6-7 days; air packages run higher but save you two full driving days. Whether you’re planning a honeymoon, a family trip, or a group tour to Karimabad, Attabad Lake, Passu Cones, and Khunjerab Pass, we build the itinerary around your route, budget, and season, not a fixed template. Our 2026 Hunza Valley tour packages cover the main spots travelers want to see: Hunza, Gilgit, Nagar Valley, Karimabad, Passu, and Attabad Lake. Every package includes private transport, hotel stay, breakfast, and a guide for sightseeing, so you don’t have to plan each stop yourself.

Most trips include a day at Khunjerab Pass on the Pakistan-China border, a stop in Nagar Valley, and views of Ultar Sar and Batura peaks. Along the way, you’ll get to try local food like Chapshuro and Burushaski dishes, and see everyday life in Hunza’s small towns.

These are good add-ons if you want to see one extra spot without changing your main itinerary, or if you’re a Karachi, Lahore, or Islamabad traveler with just a day or two free during a longer northern Pakistan trip.

Hunza by road: It will take 12-14 hours from Islamabad via the Karakoram Highway. From Lahore, it’s about 18-20 hours using the motorway and Hazara Expressway. All our road packages include a private AC vehicle and an experienced driver for the full trip.

Hunza by air: There is no airport in Hunza, however, you can fly to Gilgit Airport nearest airport to Hunza (about 45 minutes from Islamabad), then a private vehicle takes you the rest of the way to central Hunza, around 1 hour 55 minutes, since Gilgit Airport is roughly 95 km from Karimabad. Lahore travelers can also fly direct to Gilgit during peak season (May-September), with a flight time of around 1 hour 15 minutes.

Route depends on season. In summer, you can also reach Hunza through Naran and Babusar Top, a scenic route, but it’s only open part of the year. In winter, this route closes, and the only way in is via the Karakoram Highway, through Besham and Chilas before reaching Gilgit and Hunza. The Karakoram Highway stays open through winter, though landslides can happen occasionally.

What type of vehicle needed: In summer, most cars in normal condition can make the drive. In winter, a stronger vehicle is a good idea because of the cold and distance, but you don’t need a 4×4 unless road conditions get bad.

Alternative route via Skardu: Travelers from Karachi have another option, fly to Skardu Airport (about 2 hours, with regular PIA and Air Blue flights), then drive about 5 hours to Hunza via the Karakoram Highway.

Flight tip for Hunza: Flights to Gilgit and Skardu depend on the weather and are sometimes delayed or cancelled if it’s cloudy. If you’re flying in, it’s a good idea to keep one extra day free in your schedule. We plan this buffer into your itinerary and keep a road backup ready, so a delayed flight doesn’t throw off your whole trip.

Many people use “Hunza” and “Nagar” together and think they are the same place. They are not. Hunza and Nagar are two separate districts, split by the Hunza River. Each has its own historical significance, and even the local language is different. Years ago, Nagar was part of Hunza, but the two areas had a long rivalry and later became separate districts.

If you like trekking, Nagar is worth adding to your trip. The Rakaposhi Base Camp trek and Rush Lake trek both start from Nagar and are popular with adventure travelers. We also run a 7-day Hunza Nagar honeymoon tour that covers both areas together.

Nagar is also a good choice if you enjoy walking and hiking. You can stay in central Hunza and walk to Hopper Valley in Nagar on one day, then trek up to Rakaposhi View Point from Minapin village the next. Most of our Hunza Valley tour packages can include a day or two in Nagar if you want to see both.

Top Things to Do in Hunza Valley

Hunza Valley has mountains, old forts, lakes, and a culture that’s still very much alive. Here are the main things you can do on a Hunza Valley tour package.

See the main peaks: Hunza is surrounded by some of the highest mountains in the world includes Rakaposhi (7,788m), Ultar Sar (7,388m), Passu Sar (7,478m), and Nanga Parbat (8,126m). You get clear views of these peaks from Karimabad and several viewpoints along the way.

Attabad Lake boating: Attabad Lake has bright blue water and mountains on all sides. You can take a wooden boat, motorboat, or speedboat from the main jetty. Boats run from April to October, and a normal ride takes 30–45 minutes.

Altit Fort and Baltit Fort: Baltit Fort is about 700 years old and gives one of the best views of Rakaposhi. Altit Fort is even older, over 1,000 years old, and sits on a cliff above the Hunza River. Both forts are in Karimabad, can be visited in a single day, and have a small entry fee with a guide available on site.

Jeep ride to Naltar Valley: Naltar Valley is about 40 km from Gilgit. The road is rough, so you need a 4×4 jeep to get there; regular cars can’t make the drive. Once you arrive, you’ll find Satrangi (Blue) Lake and pine forest. It’s easy to do as a Naltar Valley day trip from Gilgit or from Karimabad.

Khunjerab Pass: Khunjerab Pass sits at 4,733 meters and is the highest paved border crossing in the world, right on the Pakistan-China border. Most 5-day and longer Hunza packages include a day trip here.

Hussaini Suspension Bridge: The bridge has wooden planks, gaps between them, and moves as you walk. It’s one of the most photographed spots in Hunza, with the Passu Cones in the background.

Wildlife spotting: Khunjerab National Park is home to snow leopards, ibex, and Marco Polo sheep, though sightings are not guaranteed. Naltar Wildlife Sanctuary is a quieter option for bird watching. You can read our blog on how we do ibex hunting in Hunza.

Local shopping: Karimabad’s main bazaar and Aliabad Market are good places to buy handwoven textiles, local gemstones, dried apricots, apricot oil, and wool products made in the valley.

Drive the Karakoram Highway: The Karakoram Highway connects Hunza to the rest of Pakistan and China, and follows the old Silk Route used by traders for centuries. It’s one of the highest paved international roads in the world and is part of every road-based Hunza Valley tour package we run.
