Spring Season in Hunza Valley (March & April)

Detailed Spring Itinerary & Route Details
Day 1: Islamabad to Chilas
Departure is at 8:00 AM from your location in Islamabad or Rawalpindi to begin your spring tour. The drive takes you along the smooth Hazara Motorway, passing through the mountain landscapes of Abbottabad and Mansehra towards Thakot. From there, the route joins the Karakoram Highway running alongside the river canyon. We split the long journey with regular stops for food, tea, and restrooms before arriving in Chilas by late afternoon. Total travel time is around 11 hours.

Day 2: Chilas to Nagar Valley
Leave Chilas after breakfast to continue your journey north along the Karakoram Highway. Within a short drive, we stop at the Nanga Parbat viewpoint to see the world’s 9th highest mountain peak right from the roadside. We also make a brief stop at the unique mountain junction point where the Karakoram, Hindukush, and Himalaya ranges meet. From Gilgit onwards, the road is smooth and scenic as you drive into Nagar Valley to check into your hotel.

Day 3: Naltar Valley Day Trip
Take an exciting day trip into Naltar Valley, famous for its thick pine forests and colorful alpine lakes. At Nomal village, we switch into a private 4×4 jeep for a scenic 2.5-hour mountain drive up into the main valley. Spend the afternoon exploring the lakes and enjoying the peaceful forest scenery before returning to your hotel in Nagar for the evening.

Day 4: Nagar Valley to Karimabad (Hunza)
Drive from Nagar across the river into Hunza Valley. This short, easy journey brings you into the cultural hub of Karimabad, where pink and white spring blossoms line the local terraces. Check into your hotel and spend the day visiting the historic Altit Fort and Baltit Fort to experience the local heritage and catch panoramic views of the valley layout.

Day 5: Attabad Lake & Gojal Valley Excursion
Travel further north today to explore Upper Hunza (Gojal). The plan includes a relaxing boat ride across the deep turquoise waters of Attabad Lake. You will also view the famous sharp peaks of the Passu Cones, visit the lakeside villages of Gulmit and Ghulkin, and walk across the historic Hussaini Suspension Bridge. Drive as far as the border town of Sost before returning to your hotel in Karimabad for the night.
Day 6: Hunza Valley to Besham
Begin the return journey down the Karakoram Highway after breakfast. We leave the hotel by 8:30 AM, traveling along the base of Mount Rakaposhi for a great final view of its massive snow face. The highway offers dramatic mountain landscapes as we travel back down toward the Indus River. Arrive in Besham by evening for a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 7: Besham to Islamabad
Depart from Besham after breakfast for the final drive back to Islamabad. The route connects smoothly back onto the Hazara Motorway network, reaching the capital city within about 6 hours. Your spring holiday concludes with a safe drop-off at your preferred home, hotel, or airport location.
