Nanga Parbat Basecamp Tour
The Nanga Parbat Basecamp tour is a unique experience that showcases the magnificent natural beauty of Nanga Parbat, the world’s ninth-highest mountain and the second-highest mountain in Pakistan, after K2. Nanga Parbat in Gilgit Baltistan, Diamir District, is the anchor point of the western Himalayas, rising above the dramatic Indus Valley, which the formidable Indus River and the Karakoram Range flank.
Moreover, this expedition combines the beauty of the view with the excitement of traversing the world-famous Karakoram Highway, along with the enchanting Fairy Meadows, a perfect alpine vision, and a lovely meadow. Along the way, you pass picturesque green hills, falling waterfalls, and rocky surfaces before reaching the spectacular views of the tall mountains of Nanga Parbat. The mountain is actually a 20km-long massif, with its snow-capped peak standing at 8,125 meters. The walls of its South Face or the Rupal Face range 5,000 meters, and the North (Raikot) Face of around 7,000 meters down to the banks of the Indus River, creating one of the deepest gorges in the world.
Nanga Parbat has a rich history of mountaineering and was first climbed in a 41-hour, oxygen-less solo ascent in 1953 by Hermann Buhl. Reinhold Messner and his brother Gunther climbed the Rupal Face in 1970; Reinhold came down the Diamir Face. The Rupal Face, which is four kilometers above base camp, is the largest mountain face on the planet, and there have been only five successful climbs so far.
