Tourists from five countries traveled 745 kilometers by tricycle from Islamabad, the federal capital of Pakistan, to the Khunjerab crossing on the northern border.
The group of eight came to the South Asian country to enjoy the scenery, which includes many changing landscapes and wildlife. However, they chose a very unusual journey.
Members of the group are from the UK, Italy, Australia, Canada, and the Netherlands. They started their week-long journey on Saturday. Some of them interacted with the media before embarking on the fun-filled journey.
The backpacker said the hike was challenging, but added that was the point of the adventure. They also said the trip would be used to promote mountain sports and tourism in Pakistan.
The group will reportedly post vlogs and photos of stunning views of snow-capped peaks and sunny valleys in Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
Tourists are said to be no strangers to such excursions; they have completed many challenging journeys in India, Nepal, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.
The Gilgit-Baltistan government and the Special Communications Organization will host a reception for tourists as they arrive at the 5,000-meter-high Khunjerap Pass.
