Kaghan Lake is an unbelievable 1800s Story by Mian Muhammad Bakhsh, One of the finest Sufi writers/poets. It’s also a classic myth from the Hazara region.
It’s a well-known fact that the immense mountains possess mystery and ambiguity. The lake is nestled between the tremendous peaks and fed by glacial melt in Kaghan Valley.
The lake is considered one of the highest lakes in Pakistan, with an elevation of 10,578 feet above sea level.
Additionally, the lake owns its story that beautifully depicts a tale of love and soul.
One of the finest Sufi writers/poets, Mian Muhammad Bakhsh, tells the story in his poem Saif Ul Malook, which showcases the Prince of Egypt and Queen of Fairies Badi-U-Jamal.
Mian Muhammad Baskh wrote this epic romance in the late 1800s. He was commendable in the poetic art that connected the reality of life with the magic of this universe.
The epic states that Prince Saif-ul-Malook was the only child of the great Egyptian king Asim bin Sufwan. The father once gifted a sovereign stamp to his son.
The Prince used to look at the two pictures inscribed on it. The symbol was a family heritage, as the Prophet Suleiman, well-known as the ruler of demons and fairies, presented it to his grandfather as a token of friendship.
Later, the Prince notices the two pictures, one of him and the other of the beautiful demos, which are eternally gorgeous. He falls in love with that maiden at first sight.
When father came to know about that maiden and his love for her, he sent his guards and knights in search of her, but all returned unsuccessfully.
Later, one night, the Prince saw that maiden in his dream, and she introduced herself as the Queen of Fairies Badi U Jamal.
She invites him to her Fairyland with the caution of open trails in his way.
The Prince was determined and set his journey towards the Fairyland. Meanwhile, on his trip to the Fairyland, he meets an ethereal man who tells him about the hurdles in his way.
The emerald-green lake was in the gleaming twilight when the Princes reached the meeting point. The Prince was astounded by a magnificent view of seven beautiful heavenly fairies scrubbing down, delicate, thin, and sensitive animals with smooth skins, brilliant eyes, and wavy blonde hair.
Here, he witnesses the majestic beauty with dark hair, Badi u Jamal, in her complete avatar as he dreamt off.
He faces many trials and tribulations, performs many mystic actions, reaches Fairyland, and weds the Queen of Fairies.
The battles continue with the two entirely different creatures for about six years and 40 days. Due to these wars, the Ansoo Lake and Deosai Plains are believed to have appeared.
But in the end, the union was a destiny. His union with the fairy is the union of the soul with eternal truth.
