Global warming is the average temperature of Earth that has increased since 1950; until now, the temperature has continued to increase. It can also refer to climate change caused by natural events and humans, which are believed to contribute to an increase in the average temperature. That is causing much destruction in the present and coming years. The earth is affected day by day by different kinds of gases.
Global warming is, in essence, the gradual warming of the earth’s surface. The Earth’s average temperature is slowly rising, causing shorter and milder winter seasons in various countries around the world. However, understanding global warming is nearly impossible without having a base knowledge of another phenomenon: the greenhouse effect. Greenhouse gases are building up in our planet’s atmosphere and acting like a blanket—trapping heat that would otherwise be released back into space. This is why global temperatures are rising.
Global warming is considered to be a serious issue and is not a single issue but a collective environmental issue. Global warming is a rise in the surface temperature of the earth that has changed various life forms on the earth. The issues that cause global warming are divided into two categories, including “natural” and “human influences” of global warming.
The climate has been continuously changing for centuries. Global warming happens because of the natural rotation of the sun, which changes the intensity of sunlight and moves closer to the earth. Another cause of global warming is greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide. They trap the solar heat rays and prevent them from escaping from the surface of the earth. This has caused the temperature of the earth to increase.
Volcanic eruptions are another issue that causes global warming. For instance, a single volcanic eruption will release a large amount of carbon dioxide and ash into the atmosphere. Finally, methane is another issue that causes global warming. Methane is also a greenhouse gas. Methane is 20 times more effective in trapping heat in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide.
Human influence has been a very serious issue now because humans do not take care of the earth. Humans that cause global warming are more than natural causes of global warming. Human and modern-day activities include industrial production, burning fossil fuel, mining, cattle rearing, or deforestation.
The first issue is the Industrial Revolution. Industrial have been using fossil fuels for power machines. Everything that we use is involved in fossil fuel. For example, when we buy a mobile phone, the process of making a mobile phone involves machines, and machines use fossil fuels; during the process, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere. Besides industrial, transportation such as cars is also releasing carbon dioxide from the exhaust.
Next is the most common issue, which is deforestation. Deforestation is a human influence because humans have been cutting down trees to produce paper and wood, build houses, and more. If humans continue deforestation, carbon dioxide will concentrate in the atmosphere because trees can absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Besides, humans also release carbon dioxide when breathing. Therefore, millions of people’s breath have released carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. If humans continue deforestation, human breathing that releases carbon dioxide will stay in the atmosphere.
Global warming is affecting the earth’s ozone layer, and the temperature is increasing rapidly. The main effect is the melting of the polar ice caps. As the temperature increases, the ice at the North Pole will melt. Once the ice melts, the first effect will be rising sea levels because the melting glaciers become oceans. There is a visible rise in temperature, and it shortens the winter season. That may affect the northern areas and, as a result, a number of land sliding and flood situations.
Furthermore, greenhouse gases will stay in the atmosphere for many years since hundreds of years ago. However, the effects that global warming will cause on Earth are extremely serious. There are many effects that will happen in the future if global warming continues. That includes polar ice caps melting, economic consequences, warmer waters and more hurricanes, the spread of diseases, and earthquakes.
Moreover, animals and birds migrate to other parts of the world. Animals are not like humans. They cannot adapt to the habitat that changes their living or temperature. Another important effect that will directly cause destruction to human life is more hurricanes will occur, and economic consequences will still be affected as well.
Once a disaster happens, many people die, and diseases happen. Diseases are more serious because they can spread to other people very fast, and more people will get the disease, and the disease may become more serious because of different weather.

Hence, in that end, we may conclude that our earth is “sick.” We humans need to “heal” the earth. Global warming has caused many problems for humans, but we humans are the ones who make global warming happen. Many people have died because of disease or disaster. It also affects the country’s economy. However, we need to reduce global warming by using less gasoline, and humans should help to reduce global warming instead of increasing the earth’s temperature.
Planting more trees that produce more than 25% of carbon dioxide will surely be a wallop to the environment. Our generation should start taking care of the earth because, in the next generation, they will suffer if we do not reduce global warming. Therefore, global warming is a serious issue now.
