NOC Condition for Foreigners are Withdrawn by Federal Interior Ministry
Foreign tourists will not need to acquire a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) anymore, if they intend to visit Gilgit-Baltistan. This was told by federal Interior Minister Chaudary Nisar Ali Khan during a press conference here in Islamabad. Furthermore, He said that the NOC condition is being withdrawn to promote tourism in the picturesque Gilgit-Baltistan region, where tourism stands the biggest industry. A notification in this regard will be issued soon, firmed the minister.
He advocated that for the last 1.5 years acquiring an NOC was made mandatory, which is now being taken away. There are reports though that workers of NGOs and researchers will have to go through a process of additional scrutiny, before being able enter to the region.
The NOC has been subject of great concern for Tour operators, locals of Gilgit Baltistan along Hotel owners which bank heavily on foreigners to visit Gilgit Baltistan. The NOC has negative impact on tourism industry and near 600 Foreigners were not able to visit Pakistan as they did not want to get into any hassle. Now things are looking bright and interior minister has given good news to People of Gilgit Baltistan. This would surely enhance tourism in Pakistan.
